STAN AND ANN FERGUSON HAVE BEEN SERVING STEUBEN COUNTY FOR FOUR YEARS AS CASA VOLUNTEERS.
Q: WHAT IS THE MOST REWARDING PART ABOUT BEING A VOLUNTEER?
A: "FEELING LIKE YOU MAY HAVE MADE SOMEONE'S LIFE A LITTLE EASIER, A LITTLE HAPPIER, AND A LITTLE BETTER."
Q: WHAT ALMOST HELD YOU BACK FROM BEING A VOLUNTEER?
A: "OUR OTHER ACTIVITIES AND TIME COMMITMENT."
Q: WHAT MADE YOU GO AHEAD AND DO IT ANYWAY?
A: "WE FELT IT WAS A VALUABLE WAY TO USE OUR TIME. IT WAS SOMETHING WE AS A COUPLE COULD DO TOGETHER TO HELP SUPPORT THOSE WHO FACE MANY HARDSHIPS IN THEIR EVERYDAY LIVES. YOU GET BACK MORE THAN YOU GIVE."
Q: IF YOU COULD HAVE ANY SUPERPOWER WHAT WOULD IT BE?
A: "AN OVER ABUNDANT LOVE TO SHARE WITH OTHERS IN ORDER TO TAKE AWAY THE HURT, PAIN AND REJECTION AND GIVE HOPE AND JOY!"
Q: IF YOU COULD GO BACK AND BE A KID FOR A DAY, WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
A: "NOTHING DIFFERENT. WE WERE BLESSED WITH LOVING AND STABLE FAMILIES AS WELL AS GOOD AND FUN TIMES WITH BOTH FAMILY AND FRIENDS."
Q: WHAT IS THE BEST PART OF BEING A KID THAT YOU MISS NOW THAT YOU ARE AN ADULT?
A: "THE ABILITY TO ENGAGE MORE FREELY AND CREATIVELY IN PLAY."
Q: WHAT IS A LESSON ADULTS COULD LEARN FROM CHILDREN?
A: "FIND AND EXPERIENCE THE BEST IN EACH MOMENT."
