Volunteers celebrated for service
At Northeastern Indiana CASA’s volunteer banquet, volunteers were celebrated and recognized for their service. Executive Director Kristi Bachman noted the amount of hours volunteers have given and called them “the heart of this organization.”
Receiving recognition for their years of service included:
Six years of service - Kevin Likes and Nancy Weaver
Five years of service - Dave Sanders and Holly Andreas
Five years of service on the Board of Directors - Audrey Arnold
10 years of service - Diane Peachey
“In the last year, so many of you have devoted your time, your talents and your heart to the children you have represented. Many of you have taken time off work to visit your kids, attend court, write reports and go to meetings on your child’s behalf,” said Bachman. “You’ve bravely made unannounced visits. You’ve met the children where they are at. Sometimes that means learning how to play a video game just as a way to connect when nothing else you tried worked.”
In addition to awarding years of service, the night applauded staff members, board members and are judges that help to make the organization impactful.
“You are the heart of this organization. In fact, you are the reason this organization exists,” said Bachman.
Bachman quoted the founders of the Northeast Indiana CASA program, Judge Brown and Judge Probst who had a vision. That vision still remains, “Allowing citizens with an interest in helping children, to become involved in the cases where children needed attention and care.”
