Dave Sanders: Everyday hero
We're celebrating our volunteers this month and we'd like to introduce you to one of our everyday heroes... Dave Sanders!
Dave Sanders has been a CASA volunteer in Noble County since January of 2019. He has overseen two CHINS cases and advocated for a total of five children. Dave grew up on a farm in Butler with his 8 brothers and sisters. Growing up, Dave liked to work on farm equipment and cars. Repairing cars is how he made his way through college to become a mechanical engineer. Dave is now on his 47th car and is partial to Mustangs.
Dave is married with 5 children and 17 grandchildren. Dave’s 3rd child had Down Syndrome and passed away after having heart surgery when he was just 11 months old. His children kept him and his wife very busy, from band, scouting, academic bowls, and sporting events. His children later went off to college at Notre Dame, IU, Wabash, and Ohio Northern. Dave is very proud of his children and after nearly 30 years of college, they became a medical doctor, Pharmacist, and a PhD.
Dave has done a lot of traveling, both inside and outside of the US for work and to watch his children. He was a coach for a basketball team at the YMCA, and NASA soccer. Dave stated the most amazing event he has experienced in his life was when he and his wife were given the privilege of being a "Hugger" at the International Special Olympics.
Dave, we greatly appreciate all that you do to advocate for kids in Noble County!
